Dr. Karsten Müller

“The team deserve five stars out of five – they provide clear answers and find solutions where others have failed, and always point out the risks and never shy away from difficult topics. They are down to earth, but highly skilled at the same time.”

Dr. Karsten Müller advises and represents national and international clients in all areas of intellectual property law.

A particular focus of his practice lies in litigation and strategic advice in the fields of trademark and design law. His work includes developing and implementing tailored, effective, and often international protection strategies, as well as the vigorous enforcement of intellectual property rights before the courts.

He is equally committed to advising on the protection of trade secrets and to asserting the rights of trade secret holders effectively in court. When developing enforcement strategies, he takes into account overlaps with employment and criminal law and frequently works in agile, interdisciplinary teams.

In the area of unfair competition law, Karsten advises on product designs and advertising concepts. He enforces claims against competitors in a targeted manner and effectively defends his clients against allegations of unfair competition. In this area of law, his industry focus lies particularly in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors.

Karsten studied law at the University of Münster and the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi (Finland), specializing in intellectual property and IT law. He subsequently worked as a research associate at the renowned Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM) in Münster. He then joined the IP teams of two leading international law firms as a legal trainee. In 2021, he successfully earned his doctorate with a thesis on competition law.

During his legal traineeship, Karsten gained further experience in intellectual property law within the IP team of an international law firm. Following his passion for the automotive sector, he completed his elective stage in the legal department of a German premium and luxury car manufacturer.

Alongside his client work, Karsten regularly publishes articles and case commentaries on intellectual property law topics and serves as a board member of the Association of Young Business Lawyers in Düsseldorf.
